It was weird, because one day I had this sudden craving to look up gothic lolita, and YouTube was one of the sights I went to. Well, I ended up watching some visual kei videos as well, and the song playing on one of them was "Taion" by the GazettE. After that, J-rock, along with some J-pop, is mostly what I've been listening to ever since. For one, the singers don't usually sound like girls (*cough* Justin Bieber *coughcough*). Their voices instead are unique and sound amazing. I fell in love with the visual kei style as well, but that's a whole other subject. The music is actually about the music and not about the fame, which unfortunately is not the issue over here with most of the music I used to listen to. The songs are catchy, and it helped inspire me to start learning guitar again. I feel so full of life when I listen to it.

I am horrible about remembering when something started...I think that I found J-rock thanks to Final fantasy...through Gackt and then it was the GazettE...my first song was Distress and Coma and I totally fell in love with it. Then I found a chat room and forums about VK and asked for recommendations...and now a group of people always sends me some PVs and so on...
I've noticed lately that after meeting with j-rock and VK...American or british songs seem so ridiculously simple to me...that's why I prefer Jrock and VK. And about the poll...I tell only friends. I am quite a shy person so I don't say everyone everything about me. But when someone really and honestly wants to know even though I don't know him I tell him...I live in country where people are not so opened to new things and I know the reactions of my family and neibours. I am very happy that I found great music style and I am not ashamed of it but I don't think that some people are...I must say it...stupid and don't tolerate great things because they live in stereotype and don't know anything else. So, avoiding news is normal for them...-.- |

To be honest, it was the looks! Not because I liked the way they looked, but because I wanted to hear what kind of music they played. I had never seen Visual Kei before (7th grade when I discovered it :P) so I was curious to find out what their sound was like. At that time I had listened to mostly British pop/rock, so I was pretty creeped out (in a good way haha) when I clicked on a picture of the GazettE, leading to their Filth in the Beauty PV It's been three years since then, and I've listened to nothing but VK bands, and eventually I made my way over to jpop. I love Japanese music because it's WAY different from the stuff you would hear in America. Not just the looks, but the whole composition of their music is different. And especially the lyrics. They're so poetic and detailed. They make you think, and to me, that's pretty damn amazing. When it comes to telling people, only my family and close friends know. My family hates that everything I like is Japanese, or related to Japanese culture, so I tend to feel like an outsider even around them. :X At school, everyone is just crazed Kesha and Katy Perry fans. It's actually very annoying, but I like that my interests and taste in music are different from theirs. But I don't think of myself as special or anything just because of that, I wanted to clear that up before people get the wrong impression of me. >_< |

I don't see why anyone should have shame in liking it. I go about wearing an An Cafe T-Shirt and a the GazettE t-shirt. And a Vidoll bass plectum on a necklace. I have no shame in liking such brilliant music. The only things you should be shameful about, is anything illegal.
An Cafe, Vidoll, Versailles, Dir En Grey, Deathgaze, the GazettE, alice nine., UVERworld, Kiryu , YUI, AKB48, Buono!, Berryz Koubou, C-ute, S/mileage, Morning Musume, Zoro, Lolita23Q, Visual Kei, Oshare Kei, J-Rock, J-Pop, Idol groups FTW (≧∀≦) |

I listen to some of it because I like how it sounds, same as music from anywhere else in the world. I have no problems admitting it in conversation if it comes up, but won't go out of my way to announce it.
Nobody is perfect.
I am nobody. Therefore, I am perfect. |
