in spoken Japanese it isn't uncommon for it to be used the way I've used it though. But, in correct English I suppose I should say that AKB is appealing to those afflicted by the Lolita complex. This is hardly a disputed point among the majority of Japanese people. |

I don't know if there's any explanation for this (my friend and I could be totally wrong), but we were talking the other day about how many girls here walk around with their bangs over their faces and basically staring at the ground. And if they happen to be wearing a scarf, they often have it totally wrapped around their faces and then assume the staring at the ground with bangs over their faces as they walk, basically making it impossible to see their faces. Not every girl does this, but a significant enough amount to actually draw attention to myself and several people I know to notice it.
I'm basically wondering if this has anything to do with the objectification of girls here (in forms such as lolicon)? Do these girls do this "burqa" style to stop men from staring at them? Just something that's been on my mind and felt appropriate to post in this thread. My photos from Japan and around the world: http://www.flickr.com/dylanwphotography |

And what does it mean to be childish? The sexual angst that is popular in the west is just as childish as the fake innocence that is popular in the East. |
