Before finding out about two very new(well, that was a while ago, so now a lot of people know about them XD) Japanese bands on iTunes, I listened to a lot of Western metal, so I know what you're talking about.
 It's not that I don't listen to it anymore, just not as much as I used to.

Since we're on the subject. Anyone know of any good Japanese Melodic Death Metal bands? Would preffer with english lyrics, but if its good, I'll take anything.

YouTube - Shadow - The Arrival at the last Quarter YouTube - Lost Eden - Forsaken Last YouTube - VAGERKE - Ever on Word LIVE YouTube - Ablaze - Gate Of Inferno YouTube - Intestine Baalism - New Song YouTube - Serpent - Bloody Gates This band is considered symphonic, but it doesn't quite sound like Bodom to me.... it sounds more akin to In Flames. I love techno/electonica/trance/EBM as well, so I don't particularly mind the mixture of the two genres this band does, but: YouTube - BLOOD STAIN CHILD -FREEDOM- These are just a few.
