while he first two are pretty interesting films, they don't really show what parkour is. district b13 is great .

i would recommend a dvd called "parkour journeys" purely for the interview with daniel ilabaca (my role model). he really shows he essence of parkour in his words as well as his movements, it also shows what a model traceur should be like. well worth it

They have training places but they are hard to find,
it took me almost a year to find one i could regularly attend.
but you just gotta search online and look really hard!
but careful cuz i spent like 7 years learning it and
then it became illegal in my town,
yeah people get aressted for it here.
lame.

the best place to learn is on the street. for parkour, a gym is useless. yes you can do good stuff without getting hurt, but the mats, boxes and all other equipment feel nothing like an urban environment does. your best bet to learn would be to find a parkour team near you and train with hem, take it slowly and you should be fine

In my town is openin some extreme center but we already have a place to train parkour. I hope I'll start in the summer with it.

Today we jumped in school over some thingy and I did it bad so I am a lil bit afraid of how it'll go to meh but it's all about practice, you know..

Question: How do you begin practicing this art?

In more detail... What excercises do you consider a starting point in introduction to Parkour?

As noted previously, it is fairly dangerous to those who are inexperienced (and even sometimes to those who are), so how would someone new get involved?
Practicing in your backyard? Or more of a case in which it is recommended that you learn from someone else?

Of course, there can be many ways to do one thing... Parkour is a good example of this.
However, I'd like to know the most common way a new person would start getting into Parkour, whether it be by self-teachings or by lessons and teachers.

Running is a good way to start, because from there I naturally evolved. As I learned the short cuts in the city through parks and schools, and over fences, I started to become more aggressive and versatile with it. Eventually I was doing what I guess is parkour!

I think if you wanne do it then just start running, as that is the main skill of it. I learned something, if you wanne get good at something, practice that. Not something else. In Muay Thai I see people practice stretching to get good at kicking! But if you practice kicking at the times when you are stretching you would get good at kicking twice as fast. All things are like this. Just start doing it. Honeing a few skills in your backyard would be okay, such as jumping and fench jumping, rolls if you wanne use em, whatever. But just go for a run...
Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it.
