My mom found it in the garden in spring and it still played like brand new) and trading hockey cards with the mexican kids at my elementry school, oddly enough. I remember trading almost all of the starting red wings for a patric Roy card ( my favorite goalie ever).
Roy is ok....miller is cool, but I relly don't pay attention to them, I pay attention to the forwards, but it's funny, cause my favorite player ever is defence. SOURAY ALL THE WAY!!!!

Post Hockey - 04-10-2008, 12:10 PM

At the moment of writing this, i am waiting for the 3rd period of LAT - JPN U18 match. The score right now is 6 - 0 ... ummmm wtf? Our national team is far from being good, but this is just ridiculous.

So what's up with hockey movement in Japan? I had some hard time while digging up info on hockey in the country of the rising sun. Anyone here who wants to share some thoughts/info about it?

It's really simple. In Japan, many of the kids with the best athletic abilities will usually choose to play baseball or soccer. There are professonal leagues in both and kids have their own favorite teams and/or individual players that they admire and aspire to be like in the future.

As for hockey, I don't think I've ever seen a game on TV in Japan. I never knew anything about it when I was a kid, and I still don't know much about it. It's just not a game people here in Japan talk about as often as some other games.

What about Olympics... You've got to support your national team, right? Or are you blaspheming this as well?

P.S. The game ended 9-0... it's rather unexpected when taking in-to consideration the fact that JPN were the vice champions last year (I am speaking about the U18 championship here).
