I've always been against Sony. I've always had problems with their items, be it Sonicstage (If anybody knows what that is, they'll automatically know what I am talking about) or just the quality. I had sold my PS2, but I decided 2 years later (just this past october, actually) to pick up a new one. I will admit the PS2 has an amazing library that I needed to get my hands on again.

But I feel Sony is taking advantage of what they have. They lie to the consumer (FULL backwards compatability, eh?) and they release the smallest ammount of systems possibly to drive demand through the roof (that company must love it's consumers...) and make sure that they are making the most they can.

With problems on the first released PS3 days after the launch, that wasn't a good start. Somebody breaking their nose in Milwaukee because the store decided to have the customers run across a parking lot to get a spot to get a PS3. What the hell is that? It is a god damn gaming system. And yet Sony does what they will to sell out.

But the sad thing is I have seen PS3s in stock at stores. I've yet to see the Wii. I'd love to get a Wii; it looks amazing and fun as all hell.

Sony better wise up if they don't want the PS3 to turn into a PSP. Oh yeah, and losing 90% of your exclusives (MGS4 is still up in the air) doesn't help your cause neither.

Cut down your discomfort wings.

I think you are throwing around a few common misconceptions there Vulgarism. Here's my take:

- PS2 didn't have a great launch lineup, just like the PS3 now. It's too early to judge these exclusives and also some of the supposed XBOX 360 exclusives are starting to go to the PS3. This recent trend however has nothing at all to do with the PS3 it is purely economics: it's expensive to make games so why stick to one platform? Take this for fact: neither the Wii, XBOX nor PS3 will have EVERY game everyone wants.

- I'd be curious to know what these PS3 problems are you have been referring to. My PS3 has been going strong for me and I bought it on launch day in Nagoya.

- And people breaking their noses is not Sony's fault, it is people's fault. Just in the same way that MacDonald's isn't responsible for people getting fat. If peope want to go crazy shooting each other and fighting just for a few bucks on ebay, that's only their fault.

- As for the availability in stores of the PS3 and Wii, there are a couple of factors to consider: the PS3 is twice as expensive and secondly they don't stay on those shelves for too long. Suddenly supply has been ramped up. Units sitting on a shelf is no sign of a failure otherwise every consumer product known to man (which somewhere in the world is sitting on a shelf) is a failure. Why must everything be another Tickle Me Elmo to be deemed success?

- And as for the PSP. It's sold eighteen million units (18,000,000) the most successful handheld outside of Nintendo. So that is considered a failure?

Think of this as well: Hyundai routinely outsells Ferrari's. Will this lead to Ferrari going bust?

The PS2 did have a less-than-stellar launch lineup, but the games got moderate reviews. From what I've seen, the PS3 has gotten low reviews. Granted, Resistance is getting great scores, but that is being dragged down by the likes of Mobile Suit Gundam, Genji, and Untold Stories. The 360 had Call of Duty 2, Condemned, Project Gotham Racing 3, and, soon after, Oblivion. We can argue that Oblivion is coming to the PS3, but Capcom is no longer a sony exclusive, and it is CONFIRMED that not only is Armored Core 4 coming to the 360, but also Virtual Fighter 4, Devil May Cry 4, Resident Evil 5 (no longer just on a Nintendo system or Sony system)... And possibly Metal Gear Sold 4. Oh yeah, and Crysis is a possibility... With that being said, the PS3 will most likely get Dead Rising, but if you are buying a system for games.. Would you rather spend $400 or $600??

PS3 broken straight out of the box - Joystiq

Granted, that is just one, but straight out of the box. I'd be pissed. I am not saying Sony is just shelling out defective products... But I've never had a Sony product last too long. You could argue I might be using my product in ways it isn't supposed to be used... But seriously... When an MP3 player has the memory wiped because it fell from a height of my knee onto thin carpet... That is not quality.

I agree with you there, but people are willing to take the risk to get it. Sony (and every other company, for that matter) market their newest item as a godsend, and people will do anything for it. Besides, delay after delay with the PS3 didn't help. It took them a few years to finally announce a stable release date.

The shortage of like 400,000 units says something. If you'd say there are 40 huge cities in just the U.S. with more than 100,000 people, that means that 10,000 systems go to that city. That is leaving out every single other city in the U.S... Besides, the place that I live in is 10,000 people... We got about 12 PS3s on launch day, and when the second round arrived, I saw a PS3 at our local wal mart. The city (Sturgeon Bay) is also the only larger city in our county, so it is the main shopping place for about 40,000 people. That means out of 40,000 people, only around 23 wanted a PS3. Now just remember I am doing just a rough rough estimate to show my point.

What other handhelds have there been? Game gear, Neo Geo pocket, NGage... Not many others... So to say it is the most sucsessful outside of Nintendo, that isn't saying much. Would you say the UMD has been sucsessful? What if Blu Ray ends up being just like the UMD. Hell, look at what sony has had in the past...

Beta tape VS video tape
Minidisk VS HD players
UMD VS... Well, it didn't really have competition and still isn't doing well. What is saying that in the near future that the Blu Ray won't do the same??

i think that twilight princess is the only game worth getting a wii for right now... even if you can get it on the gamecube, it just wouldnt be the same as having it for one of the truely next gen systems.

ahhh..... just look how pretty this scene is! I love it long time!

meh... i have the nintendo Wii and...yea it's been sitting in my living romm for 3 weeks now.. about the PS3.. a lot of people bought it in our store.. and returned it because of the games they have now.. so far ppl loved Gears of War over Resistance and said that ROM is overrated.. i agree i played both of them and i have to agree Gears of War is Way better..but that's off topic.. many people didn't like the launches for the PS3 but loved the launch games for the Wii like Red Steel, Zelda, Excite Truck, and more.. you have to admit.. the Wii is more fun.. i finally played a playstattion 3 and i was like.. wtf? i though i was holding a feather! due to Sony being sued of the rumble. The tilt doesn't give it justice and what pissed me off the most was after the batteries die on the controller, you have to buy a brand new one-_- and also now the third party companies that supported Sony are now making their games for Microsoft plus most of the games that are and are coming out on the PS3.. are already on the 360.. plus.. you have to buy HDMI cables and have an 1080i t.v to fully experience the PS3.. but the HD cables are seperate.. they come with the 360 so you're saving 50 bucks.. plus in order to charge the batteries the corted is like a foot long so in order to recharge the controller you literally have to have the PS3 on your lap>.<.. Sony is an arrogant company and i hate them for that.. oh don't get me started with the PSP... that's even worse! let's check out the PS3 games shall we?.. Genji: Dawn of the Blade....it's a good game.. but you're mostly battling the damn camera view and angles more than the enemies>.<... Resistance: excellent game but..meh monsters in world war 2?...please.. you have your usual sports games and the cartoony need for speed carbon..lol those are the only games worth mentioning in my opinion.. plus if you're trying to play a movie on the PS3 it down grades itself to a 720i even if u have a 1080 i t.v screen.. so watching a movie isn't that great on the PS3..

Remember all of the anticipation, waiting for the "next gen" systems to finally come out. Waking up early, and tuning into G4 tv's cinematech, just to watch those CG trailors you hoped to god were real. Sucking in as much info you could get, from magazines and gamestores. Everyone was hyped up for their purticular system, and thus the console wars started. The systems had not even been released and already, people all around the world, were in a constant debate. Which system would be the best? It started with rumors, like nintendo revolution , Y box. (they guessed the PS3). But as more information was unveiled by there makers, we began to use terms like "the 360", and "the wii". I remember discussions that would take up all of my class time and go through lunch, at my high school. School ends.... rush home.... ahhh, there doing a review on the new X-box! Gotta watch! After at least two years of this build up, none of these consoles lived up to the hype, and im left disapointed with the launch games that should have been better, And on top of that, all of the hardware problems PS3, and 360 faced. I sure hope they do a recall soon. The games were kind of midiocur, with an acception to ESO(eldar scrolls oblivion), and there was no variety, I MEAN COME ON NOW! GIVE A GAMER SOME EXCLUSIVES! Almost all of the games that have come out for the 360 are also coming out for its predicessor xbox, and on the PS3, you guys need to stop sharing! But i guess that in time, these systems will be pushed to there limits, with better games and all.... one game i want you 360 owners to look out for though is Huxley, a promising mmo fps/rpg. The general idea is to put all of the elements from a good MMO RPG, into a first person shooter style game. But dont let the big guns fool you, this game is highly immersive, but ill let you figure that one out for yourself. ill post some pics though, just to give you a feel for what it looks like....
