I have a DS too. I play FF3 on it. It's pretty fun. I can't wait til Castlevania: Dracula X comes out in like June!

yeah, i've heard about this too...i also got a NDS (orig version), not the Lite though...i have a few games which are kind of old but still pretty cool...

nintendogs
mario kart
ultimate spiderman
need for speed underground

Here in China where I stay, u can now also use the DS as an FM station player... just buy an adapter built for this feature...as for new games, we don't actually have to buy all those expensive licensed games...just buy an adapter and a memory card or something, then, download the games from the net...i haven't done this yet for i bought some other gadgets which left me cash broke... but i will as soon as i've saved enough cash again...

Is no one going to answer my questions then?

I have another to add - which has a bigger user base in Japan? I heard that the DS used to sell better, but my sources are outdated - is this still the case?

I'll be in Japan soon and I was considering buying a DS while I'm out there. I have a couple of questions:

1) How much is a DS in Japan?

2) How much are games in Japan?

3) Are DS games in Japan all in Japanese or are they multi-language?

4) Are there any other issues I should bear in mind before I buy a DS in Japan (compatibility, etc)

Thanks.

Famico666, i'm not in Japan but i'll try to help u out with a couple of your questions...as for the rest, i have no idea as well...

Also, u need to tell us what DS version u are planning to buy? The DS (the orig version) or the DS lite?

I've checked a few websites, the average price for the DS (not lite) was about 16,000.00 JPY(?) as of last year...or roughly about 135 USD...i'm pretty sure the price has gone down by this time especially with the release of the DS lite version in the market...

I actually bought mine in the UK...Now that i am in China, i agree with the following article about DS,

"The Nintendo DS is region free in the sense that any console will run a Nintendo DS game purchased anywhere in the world; it is the same system everywhere.

However, the Chinese version games can only be played on the Chinese iQue DS, whose larger firmware chip contains the required Chinese character glyph images. Nintendo DSes from other regions cannot play the Chinese games, but the iQue DS can play games of other regions.

Also, as with Game Boy games, some games that require both players to have a Nintendo DS Game Card for multiplayer play will not work together if the games are from different regions (e.g. a Japanese Nintendo DS game may not work with a North American Nintendo DS game, though some titles, such as Mario Kart DS, are mutually compatible).

With the addition of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, certain games can be played over the Internet with users of a different region game.

Some Wi-Fi enabled games (e.g. Mario Kart DS) allow the selection of opponents by region. The options are Continent and Worldwide, as well as two non-location-specific settings. This allows the player to limit competitors to only those opponents based in the same geographical area. This is generally determined through the internal region of the software (i.e. Japanese releases will automatically search for other users of
the Japanese version, and so forth)."

Now i'm not sure if Nintendo made changes on the features mentioned above for the DS lite...

Try also to PM those JF members who are currently living in Japan...like jasonbvr, samokan and nyororin..and i think nyororin has a DS of her own... right, nyororin?

I know this was posted a long time ago...

Can someone recommend me any good RPGs for the DS?
... but I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the Mario RPG games on this board. All this talk of Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts yet nobody mentions Mario. Paper Mario is great on the gamecube and I think "Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time" is well worth getting for the DS.

Going off the subject and onto a quick rant, the thing that really annoys me is my mates think I'm really sad because I'm over 30 and have a DS (especially because their kids have them as well), I just like to keep up with all the classic Nintendo games, Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Castlevania etc. Strangely enough when you play the SNES versions of these games they think it's cool. Strange...

i got the R4DS and the M3Simply
down load and play new games any time i want
plus music/videos and programs and home brew stuff also

its great

as for DS in japan GOOD luck finding LE versions, cuz you wont.

there sold out every where
and pretty much the only colors for sale left in japan is the light pink and light bluish one

ever one has a ds here almost.

every time i go on a train i see at least 1 or 2 people playing it.

Prices in japan range from 16800Yen to 20000 yen pending on version

if you can find a FF Revinant wing ds, then that'll go for a nice amount on ebay
