The wolf does'nt symbolize any character, either in the movie or from the game. It is more of a symbol of hope and protection. There is no evidence to connect it to anyone. I think we are just reading into this wolf symbology too much.

actually, the show all three of them at the end, which makes me think the wolf was Zack's pet or something (or Nanaki's father)

i didn't think so either, at least, not in the game...he looks more wolflike in the movie, but the mane is odd *shrugs*
