Why would it cost hundreds of dollars? It could fit on one blue ray disk. for the PS3. I think if they remade it, they'd get more money from Final Fantasy then any game ever. All die-hard fans want a remake, so they'll get it, and non-playes will be drawn to the incredible graphics. Its a win-win situation!! Since alot of people now won't play FFVII because the graphic aren't that great. But I love the graphics, they are so cool and unique. Like all SquareEnix games.
it cost them something like twenty thousand dollars just to make that one five minute tech demo for the PS3....if they were to do the whole game, it would cost a LOT more, and they'd have to charge us a lot. that's the only reason i doubt they'll ever make one. they wouldn't be able to recover the amount of money spent in the animation and redesign of the controls and schtuff

where are you getting this idea from?

Squaresoft has stated repeatedly...there will be NO FF7 remake, because it would cost a fortune to produce....they could never make up the money spent developing it, because it's simply too massive a game to do what that tech demo made us envision

i mean, let's face it...you can't put the close to a thousand hours of gameplay that's possibly in FF7 on a single disc of any type with current tech
