PS3 v.s Xbox 360 v.s Wii

Not anymore. Sony removed the PS 2 backward compatability in the new PS 3 models.

It would appear my lack of knowledge of the 360/PS3 at this point is showing clear.

I also should have been more clear as to how far back I meant. I didn't grow up on Halo, the xbox, the PS. I started out on the NES, and I still enjoy playing some of those for nostalgic reasons.

We all know PCs aren't preferred for gaming as much as consoles. with all the upgrades you have to do, people get bored.

Some people do, but not everyone. I like having a machine I can do some of my work on and then play some Crysis. And unless you go overboard its not too expensive.

I would honestly have to say the Wii is best out there. Xbox 360 games and PS3 games are waaaayy to serious. Sometimes you just need to chillax and kick back. Ok ok, there are a few games for these consoles that are fun and entertaining, Like little big planet for the ps3, and nothing comes to mind for the xbox. However, the Wii is just all about having fun, isnt that the point of gaming?? I when you lose its whatever, but when you die in your fps then is all wtf and cursing into the microphone and what not. The only reason I got a ps3 is because of kingdom hearts 3, oh yeah im ready for the release xD and I still have the ps2 just incase >_> but Wii is the best imo.

Well, that's true for you, and millions of other people in the world. But not everyone.

I can't stand Wii or any Nintendo games. A lot of them are very childish, and, although games like Mario mau be the topsellers in the world, I really can't stand them.

They're almost incapable of coming up with something decent, like Final Fantasy.

Whereas I don't really care for the Final Fantasy series.

You can have fun with serious games as well. It isn't necessary for games to be comical or look funny for you to have fun.

Agreed. People get irate over video games due to their personality, not the 'seriousness' of the game. I've seen people throw controls when they lose in Mario Party. Not exactly a serious game eh?

Most of the times I'd curse in a fps/fighter game would be an off-hand 'You s.o.b.' or 'ah f*ck'. More of in jest than anger. I do the same with some Wii games (boxing with the oh-so-accurate gyro sensor comes to mind).
