In my opinion FFVI(SNES) is better than FFVII(PS), but it's only my opinion.
Talking about story, I think the best RPG game of history is Xenogears, the story really impressed me. I have to admit this game is recommended only for people who likes read . Someone here likes .hack// series? |

Good fighting system a good plot with alot of character depth, twist in the storyline to keep it intresting, alot to get in it with not alot that you can miss, A world map, think its nessicary for giving you at least the feel that your in control I have liked the whole "base" idea of some rpgs I've played like suikodens ship and evolutions hometown. Think its cool to have a place to upgrade and sorta make your own. customisation is always fun and from playing mmorpgs I always enjoy watching my equipment change (although I would prefare to have bought the "look" of equipment and added them over some of the stupid looking but awesome stated ones.) Minigames, ff7 had teh gold saucer which I spend alot of time in, ff10 had blitzball which I played more than the actual game although they ruined it in 10-2 a moment that gives you chills for example in FF7 alot of the cut scenes are to get you pumped up, FF8 is the same and adds to they characters, FF9 when zidane goes mental and starts walking by himself and the team starts joining him, its just like in most shonen jump, when you see the main character get destroyed and then his body moves from pure determination it makes you want to cheer them on :P Dislike: cut scenes for talking that you could read in a minute and for some reason it makes it last 5 minutes and creates a cheesey astmosphere for example the newest FF, felt so anoyed by them trying to make it cinematic and by doing that they took alot away only one cutscene I actually got exicted about and it was when the lightning and hope were surrounded and got saved by snow and the aussie woman whos name escapes me World maps that are too large and for the most part make you run about looking for a place to go next without knowing where or even which direction it is hate it when you miss something because you only get one chance at getting it like bringing a certain character to a location when you only get to go to that location once as I dislike using walk throughs But thats just me :P |

To be a great rpg in my opinion. It must first and foremost have a fun battle system. No matter how good the story is I will have trouble finishing it if it is not fun. That was an issue with ffxiii it was too easy to neat enemies you just set your paradigm and hit x. My favorite rpg series of all time is the tales series because the storyline and the fighting is fast paced and enjoyable. I do not play it dreading another fight. I like a good enthralling story to keep you motivated to continue.
The thing I dislike is when you get a game of static stereotypical characters. The only games that I will play like that are zelda. (we all know they are the same) |
