Is there really any need to be so egotistic towards, damaris?
Sashimister pointed out his mistakes, yet you three felt the need to jump on the wagon and insult him/her? If you guys want to be pedantic about this; JackIsLost; No punctuations(???) at all? deity; I don't think anyone sane would want to learn English from you. |

It should be pointed out, that's all. Can you really say that this guy is in any way qualified to teach English? I don't see how nagging at those pointing that out is going to help either. And if you want to be pedantic about this, what's that comma doing there, pal? And it is "punctuation". |

Yes, it is punctuation, not punctuationS! As for the comma, perhaps in American English it isn't used, but in British English, when you say someones name at the end of a sentence, you place the comma there (at least this is what I've learnt. English isn't my mother tongue, not even close, so I may be mistaken. However, my point still holds; I wasn't pointing out those mistakes to be pedantic, I was pointing them out to illustrate the fact that their comments were ironic)! |

Your sentence "Is there really any need to be so egotistic towards, damaris?" should be "Is there really any need to be so egotistic towards Damaris?" As it stands, your sentence doesn't hold much accurate semantic meaning. We only use the comma if the name of the person used is the person being addressed. For example; "Noodle, it's really not worth trying to argue about this. The OP probably won't even come back" or "Don't egg them on, Robhol." |
