Treu, but would'n it be nice to go there for a half year in some family, witch you work for atm moment. that would be a dream come treu (day dreaming). Learn the Language, meet the people, see the culture, eat the Japanese food, experience the working diciplines of it.

so you want to study manga and become an artist whilst attending high school in japan? are you from a different planet? this is the most far-fetched idea i've heard in a long time. first of all, you need to see if your high school has sister schools in japan. secondly, i regret to inform you but in japanese schools people dont just read manga all day. they actually study...and they study about 20 times harder than most western countries. japanese schools are not like the dreamy fairy tale animes youve seen. and i must say you've seen too many. thirdly you need to learn the language somewhat or else youre gonna have a hard time adjusting. sorry to be blunt but you need to really think things through before you decide on such things.

i wish! our school is very tiny so even though i'll ask about it... i doubt it. the biggest field trips we have is band/choir go to newyork over spring break every 4 years. although, in french club we're planning to go to france maybe paris next summer! what exactly is a sister school? is it only with the big schools, or do schools like ours (7th grade - 12th grade population = 600 people... ) >.< well, thanks for the advice i'll have to do more research and look into it. ^^ i'll keep my fingers crossed! what i want to do is go to learn the language and culture, and i think that going to school there for 1/2 year will work. i'd be studying really hard, but i can do that. then some day after high school my dream is to become a manga-ka artist. i feel like my hopes have been renewed too now because a good friend who moved away has an uncle in the publishing business through whom his boss saw some artwork and now she is actually working on a few stories which are going to be published! this summer she'll be making a trip to japan!!! i'm so excited for her and i hope someday to follow! ^^

going to japan - 01-20-2008, 03:18 PM

Hello,

If you want to go to Japan to learn the language and see it's culture (so not for studying) I recommend you visit WWOOF Japan!

You can stay there in a family, they will provide you food and a bed.
In return you work a few hours on their farm/restaurant/inn/... !

I'm planning to go to Japan for a time this way!

Greetings!

Well,

In Japan there are also places where you can help at an inn or other places. You can choose how long you can stay, from a few days to more than a year.

So I don't think you will need to stop school

unfortunately, I will not be able to go

(I'll lose my child money if I go for longer then one month (and also my orphins money and so...))

But I still want to go in a few years

Hope this can help you in your dream

ps: I also saw CouchSurfing as a potential possibility. Think it is great if you don't want to work
