Gr, PETA can go and die a slow and painful death.

I'm all for ethics with animals, but these people are f*cking insane!

There's a difference between loving animals and wanting them to be treated fairly and what PeTA aims to do.

I hope Japan doesn't have a PeTA chapter.

Really? Can you explain?

I am not a member of PETA, or even a supporter, but I respect thier die-hard attitude for non-cruel treatment of animals. What do you see PETA trying to do?

I see PETA disrupting the lives of normal human beings who are just going about being top-of-the-foodchain humans, using women in a degrading manner to further their goals, cheapening the existence of the human race, and just generally being a pain in the ass.

Truly, I respect their... wait, hang on... Their whole thing is a little too extreme. Hrm... Okay, I agree with them that animals should be treated ethically. How's that? However! (comma) You can "ethically" butcher a cow and house a bunch of chickens or take consideration for some wild bird or whatever. So I have to frown on them for being both extremist and in-your-face (PETA is one of the few organizations I despise more than your run-of-the-mill Christian church for how in-your-face they can get with their beliefs, sometimes). I actually read somewhere (unverified) that PETA is considered a domestic terror organization by the FBI.

I probably don't know enough on the subject, but I see vegans more anti-cow and chicken butchering than PETA...they seem to me to be more anti-veal and fur some other things. After those humane society videos of cows that can't walk being sent to slaughter (into OUR food) I have been much more suspect of what goes in my stomach. I am hardly a vegetarian, but I don't want to eat meat from sick cows...

Sorry...that was off subject.

I don't understand this sentence. Can you explain more?

Umm... What's not understood? Was my syntax off? (It happens when it gets this late T_T )

Em...

(In answer to your question after Tyrien's post, with semi-colons instead of commas) I see PETA disrupting the lives of normal human beings who are just going about being top-of-the-foodchain humans; using women in a degrading manner to further their goals; cheapening the existence of the human race; and just generally being a pain in the ass.

They show up to places and throw red paint (or pigs' blood?) on people wearing fur coats, which is destruction of personal property and can be construed as a physical assault.

They've hired female models to do ads for them. The ones I've seen were borderline pornographic.

They try to make us think that humans are somehow on the same level as any other animal. While I agree that we are not seperate nature and are animals ourselves, I do also believe that we above other creatures. (It's never an excuse for abuse of anything, of course)

If you ever see a hat that says "Got Beer?" on it, know that it was oriiginally a campaign launched by PETA to get people to stop drinking milk. If my source was correct, their specific target was teenagers, though I would verify that before I bought it.

Gr, just talking about PETA is making me irritable >_< . It doesn't help that I'm tired :P . Feel free to reply, but I won't be responding until the afternoon (PT). 'Til then?
