People these days are careless and ignorant, especially when it comes to sex. Which is a shame, cause I agree with everyone on here when they say, its more then just sex, I agree that it should be shared with a special someone not a random. Although I'm not bashing people who do sleep around, but at least they should get tested more often. I can say, that out of my group of friends, 2 of us go get tested just for the fact of knowing, everyone else, I don't think they've even been tested. Thats my 2 cents... |

There are different wait time results for the most accurate HIV tests available, but all are available in the U.S. Finding the right testing facility may take some time and there may be some travel required, if you are not in an urban center with more resources.
Rapid HIV test - approximately 30 minutes - this tests for the presence of HIV antibodies, but does not give an assessment of viral load. ELISA - about 2 weeks - the standard test offered at most medical facilities. Not sure when it became the standard, but I first had this test in 1992. Western Blot - about 2 weeks or longer - this is usually used to confirm the results of either of the 1st two tests. I have worked with a few AIDS Education & STD prevention groups and while abstinence is the most effective prevention, it is the method with the worst compliance stats. Abstinence as choice made out of respect for your body is virtuous, but not if the choice is based on fear. Only an open mind and open heart can be filled with life. ********************* Find your voice; silence will not protect you.
