So... You`re planning to just leave the bill unpaid? Great way to reduce that racism you were complaining about. Just confirm people`s opinions that foreigners don`t follow up with their debts...

What happened to your girlfriend? She can`t lend you the money for a few weeks until you can pay things off? I am sure the bill says to pay by a certain date, but they usually don`t do anything other than call you about it if you don`t manage to pay in time. You might be able to stretch things out.
If you`re set and determined to go home though, there isn`t much I can say. I`m assuming you have an open end return ticket already in hand?

I don`t think that bad luck is your fault - it`s just poor planning. But I can`t criticize you for that either, as I came to Japan at 17 with US$500.

About your living arrangements - I didn`t really mean where, I meant what sort of situation. Your own apartment? With friend/girlfriend? A gaijin house?

If anyone is trying to find me… Tamyuun on Instagram is probably the easiest.

I can't imagine the hospital wouldn't be willing to make arrangements, even if it's a couple thousand yen a month...

But at the same time, if you can't cough up 240 bucks, you can't afford to live in Japan (like you said).

Come again after you get that degree...

$240? - 07-17-2008, 05:50 AM

Oh hay, I didnt read every post (on a phone....slooooow) , but I see the situation as: "I must return to AUS coz I owe the Japanese hospitol $240." That sucks and all, but thats nothing in the US... Check it. My mum got a very bad back injury and had to undergo 2 back surgeries due to an on the job injury. The 2nd one was coz of a doctor F'up. Alot of legal drama and stuff currently going on. If my mum didnt have an attourney, she would have to owe over $250k compare that to $240 and you see where Im getting at. I think MMM mentioned that the US should have national healthcare and I strongly agree. For such a self proclaimed best healthcare system in the world, the US really would leave you SOL if you needed life saving surgery and you werent insured.

oh she wasn't my girlfriend for very long as i have a gf in australia XD but i already spent $860 on this hospital bill and thats all of my budget i managed to save up $100 in the the last couple of days from working but yeh it could go towards keeping me alive for a little longer...i do have the apartment until the 27th i can probably stretch it alot... and maybe put some ad's up for private lessons...but its kind of getting to me that i can't speak the language i can understand it quite well but when i goto speak it i forget the words to say so i need more practice....

Anyway i'm gunna try post an ad in the kansai flea market tomorrow about private lessons and give them my phone details etc. and try to get as many students as possible then maybe i can save up enough within the next week to get a new apartment and possibly stay here longer, I applied for another 5 jobs today so hopefully one of them calls me back for an interview but if anyone could give me maybe a website or something for the kansia area to post ad's about english teaching that would be good.

1 hour = 2500 yen
2 hours = 5000 yen
3 hours = 6000 yen

Sounds Resonable no? i hear alot of people do it for around 3,500 to 4,000 yen around here so if i undercut them maybe i can get a few customers quickly..

I think I'll pass.

I am not defensive about Japan, I am defensive about the truth.

Since you're in Osaka billysweird, you may want to also advertise at the International House. I forget which subsection its in again, just north of Tennouji I think. There is a board on the wall for people to advertise services or exchanges. Exchanges are free, not sure if there is a charge for a service though.
