Im 100% sure I have read on more then one site that it is 20hours.
But ofc the sites can be wrong.

Most employers dont care just get someone who pays under the table but my friend works 28 hours a week. I'm probably not going to be able to find work while I'm going to school in Japan. My university doesnt allow their students to work at bars, clubs, or anywhere it deems inapporiate which sucks. The thing thats sucks the most is thats were most of the jobs are at for foriegners not including teaching English.

I wouldn't wanna work at a club while going to univ in tokyo... atleast not a popular one.. Or should I say, i don't think I could.

I had a friend working at gas panic (roppongi) while I was in Japan in '05. Damn, no way I could party like that 4-5 times a week and also go to school. (yeah he was a bartender, but they were more or less required to drink alot of shots etc that people bought 'em while working)

For some reason, I also remember reading it was 20 hours, but now checking my university website, it's saying 28 everywhere, but thanks for the confirmation joker8880231. Safest bet would be to double check with your school.

Haha yeah, 4-5 nights a week is intense.

Minus nightlife/English teaching, where else are you guys thinking of finding baito?

My Japanese friend is telling me to work at a chain-clothing store with her after I get my permit, but I'm assuming it'll be nearly impossible to get hired without perfectly fluent Japanese?

And on http://www.yamasa.org/ it says 20hours if I remeber right.
Same with a japan blogg somewhere here on the forum.

Big stores should always be able to find some shit for you do to even if you're mute But yeah... maybe they need you to speak japanese, who knows.

I dunno if I want to get any baito. Think I'll wait a bit and see how poor I get first Maybe if I hear of something fun though!

Haha true...yeah though I probably wouldn't take the job if it's a stay in the back room and sort boxes kind of deal lol.

Yeah if I think about it, baito-ing would get in the way of traveling and stuff too, so although I'd like to experience it, I should definitely keep my options open..
