Tell me, I have heard that the....damage deposit, thank you money, sometimes runs around $2000 just to be allowed to stay in an apartment, does it run higher than that?

Yeah, I find that strange myself. There are almost no Japanese here. Almost every newcomer is from England....

btw, thank you Pachipro for that very detailed analysis!

Wyoming! One of my all time favorite places to visit! You are quite correct in your asessment Jane. It is the same anywhere in the world. Some just have more of it than others.

I sure hope gloobey wasn't expecting a warm welcome by posting what he did in the manner that he did it in. He sounds pretty bitter. :P
You are quite correct Tyler. Also, Gloobey is bitter about his stay. I feel sorry for his Japanese wife if she has to hear it from him. It is said in the states that, "I can speak ill of my "family", but let an outsider say the same things and I will dispise them and fight them to the end." In my own experience in my early years in Japan I mentioned my feelings about what I thought what was wrong with Japan and their way of doing things to a woman I was dating. She became angry with me and stopped seeing me even though in the beginning she sort of agreed with me! After that I kind of held my feelings in check and tried to learn more about the culture.

I happen to like the Japanese people very much, and for me to just walk past a group of drunk young Japanese people with a far higher likelyhood of being invited to join then than to be called a wanker and to be asked if I want a fight, is refreshing to say the least. Don't need to say anymore, Japan is good, it has been good to me and I have learned the language, gotten my black belt in karate and loved being a part of this culture.
I couldn't agree with you more. And yes I also have experienced being asked to drink with a bunch of drunk Japanese hooligan types here and there and it was interesting to say the least. But I did have one experience that was not so fun and almost led to a fight. But that was once out of the many years I lived there! LIve there long enough and you will have a bad experience or two. It's to be expected no matter where you live.

I agree, I too feel sorry for Gloobey's wife and kid. That would wear on any one. And if he wakes up with out them one day, he will find out how Japanese they really were.

honestly they don't have time lol people think US big city are a big hustle and bustle always moving. Japan is i would say not busy but eveything is on time you are expected to start working at your work time not arrive at your time your supposed to be there like here in the states. You are expected to go to lunch on time not work over it.

year the reason there not a lot of japanese here is one they don't know about the site , two They look at it gia jin out post with many of our idea about there home and way of life. Witch they probley don't see it the same way.

Want was said about the US above is very true our Goverment think that we should be working towards 1 goverment 1 world nation. this is put in there head by big buisness because that who truely control our Goverment just as rich mercents did in japan for a while and in a way they still do. unfortal most of the people that live here don't think that way this is why immragration is a hot issuse right now also war middle east. the US is not the country it used to people but a lot of people hope that it can be again. the only thing that is certin about the US is that it is repeating all of Rome's mistakes and views of life it did not work before it not going to work again. As for my self i want to go some where else yeah i am sure they goverment is probley corrupt to but i think the US is a ticking time bomb in side it self and it going to blow up sooner or later.

I believe there aren't many Japanese on this forum because many Japanese have a hard time with English and foreign languages in general and sort of have a mental block when it comes to learning them. Thus the high number of jobs for teaching English in Japan.

You must also keep in mind they are very shy and do not like to make mistakes, especially in English, in front of others. They are very self-concious and fear being criticized.

There is a saying in the conformist society of Japan that, "The protruding nail gets hammered down." Most Japanese fear being the protruding nail and will not "step up" so to speak out of this fear. Also, one does not want to be the first to participate in a forum like this if there are no other Japanese.

I belong to a few forums dealing with Japan including one with thousands of members, but there are only a handful of Japanese and those that do participate are very fluent having lived overseas or are just one of the "rebels" so to speak and do step up. One Japanese person even uses translation software and I give him credit for participating in a forum about his country where 99% of the members are foreigners. But their numbers, compared to the participation of people in other countries' forums are very low. It is unique but understandable.

I do know one Japanese woman who participates in forums like this and I will invite her here. She is young, in her early 20's and her insight and views would be most helpful here and will give you a Japanese perspective on many of the topics here.

No, I think that has more to do with:

1) Most Japanese people in Japan aren`t confident enough with their English.

And...

2) Would you hang out on a forum that is obsessed with *your* home country?

If anyone is trying to find me… Tamyuun on Instagram is probably the easiest.
