Apologies for necro-ing this few month old thread, but I'm curious - how did everyone go? Did anyone here make the cut for this year?
I never even got to the applying part this time (just moved across Australia, too much hassle to go to Japan just after), but hearing about a friend getting in has fired up my interest again ^_^ I'm definitely planning on applying for next year, even though it's a long time away... anyone on here with me? I suppose delaying for a year hasn't been too bad for me - got myself a casual teaching gig at the local university, started belly dancing (I can stretch that to 'cultural experience' right?) and proved to myself I can make new friends and do fine in a new city |

Grades are a big issue for me. I'm still in high school. And my grades are terrible. That means only community college for me. And that means no bachelor's degree for me either. And JET requires bachelors degree.
I'm taking all computer classes basically. And have B's in all of those. But JET doesn't care about my computer knowledge. =/ Must think of a different way... 猿も木から落ちる

Yeah, JET and a lot of these English teaching programs seem to require the degree, I guess because of visa restrictions. I'd say study hard and try your best to get a degree because it's a good thing to have, but honestly this will be the first time my Computer Science degree will actually come in handy for me >_> I suppose I'm an odd case though.

For applying to JET, seeing as you need a bachelor degree of any kind
I suppose if I had actually decided to work in the field I studied, like most people do, it would have come in handy more. Certainly glad I have it now though. |
