Graduate school application procedure HELP!

I'm confused regarding the process of application to a graduate school in Japan. There's 3 things I need to apply for:

1) Monbukagakusho scholarship
2) Graduate school
3) Language institute

But I don't know the times. I'm planning on studying there in 2010 so do I apply for the scholarship and the graduate school first? Or do I apply to the language institute first and while I'm there apply for the graduate school? Or do I apply for scholarship and language institute then upon completing the language program apply for the graduate school?

Can someone help me please?

There are many different Monbukagakusho scholarships to apply for, so you need to at least know what you want to study. Therefore you probably want to know what school offers it or is strong in that area. Language schools will be the easy part.

Hey there, MMM... You seem to be omnipresent around JF. I've just found out about this forum, and it's been quite fun.


Actually, I started google'ing japanese-related social websites since I finally realized I'm about to get accepted by the MEXT and Kyoto University as a grad student.

The final answer is getting closer and closer, and so is the expected date of departure. Even though I can't really explain why, I'm a little scared! And I don't even know what to ask! Is Kyoto a nice city? Will I have a social life? Will I be an "outcast" for not being 日本人? If I forget to use honorific forms of speech am I gone get killed? Is it gonna be cool?
