It'll be very difficult to beat public transit in terms of overall cost/km. Especially in Japan where it's fairly expensive to maintain a vehicle.
With that being said, I don't have any public transit in my town so I have 2 cars. One for commuting and one for fun. |

It depends on what you use to get to your job and back. My dad can walk to work because it's a little less than a mile away, but doesn't want to walk. My mom's work is like two miles away so she takes a car too. My brother's job is right across the street from my mom's.
None of us need to use public transportation because we don't go to the city or need to use a bus for anything. Driving is cheapest for us because we all don't live too far from work. I walk to work because my job is walking! ~Yuna7780 |

over here in germany gas is about €1.10 a liter. I ride the bus which for a day ticket is €5.60 (bastards raised the prices again as they do every end of the year) and one way €2.40.
Right now the bus is cheaper because just getting a car and its upkeep is to expensive with insurance, car taxes, potential repair costs and gas all together. murrrrrrrrr "If Life and Death be things that seem,
