I can understand the desire to escape personal $h!7 but Japan is very, very, very different than the English speaking world. You’re going to face a serious amount of alone time whether you’re keen on the idea or not. Whatever issues that are ailing you will come back. But if you’re the adventurous sort, can bury issues in the back of your mind and have some good hooch then go for it.

I admit I had somewhat of an escapeist mentality when coming here, no worse than esaping to another region of your country, except the above.
If you need a crowd of friends, may be difficult, especially at first. If you thrive alone or in challenges, it may be for you.
