It is flat-rate. I am sure that you can probably track down somewhere offering a bandwidth based service, but I certainly can`t think of any. The rates for high speed access are so low to begin with that it would be hard to justify bandwidth based schemes.
An example - we have a package where our home phone service and internet are in one bundle. 100Mbps down, 40Mbps up (Actual 77Mbps down, 28Mbps up) for 4300/month. Unlimited flat rate. |

One of our fastest packages here is... 50Mbps down, and 2Mbps up. With a limit of 175 GB per month. For 100$ Canadian. But I guess I have to take into consideration, that Canada is so much larger than Japan :P. Maybe that's why? It's still really expensive though . Used to be flat rate! Thanks for the reply! ^^! Flat rate in Romania for land lines (mobile ones are mostly bandwidth based, and when you pass certain limit on mobile, your download and upload decreases to 750 kb/s, no extra pay for extra traffic).
Speed is modest, 75 Mb/s down, 15 Mb/s upload, from January this year it increased to 150 Mb/s down and 75 Mb/s up, the price remained the same, just the network got upgraded. Monthly fee is about 6 Euro. PS: I didn't recon' that Japan has lower speed than my country, but I found some studies on the net, it seems we are almost at the top of bandwidth and speed per person in Europe. "Manganese? Is that manga language?" - lol? |

Our current plan is technically 300Mps, but they haven`t gotten around to changing the main lines in the building so we still only have 100Mbps. I hadn`t checked for months, but somewhere along the line it looks like they also changed up to the same as down. |

nyororin...i don't get it...how can you get 77mb/s download speed.
optic cable, sure, but here you can download files with ~25mb/s with optic and upload ~12mb/s, not 77/50. only some places have it since wires are not so accessible for it, but if you get it then it's cheap. its 30$ a month for unlimited use. meanwhile i pay ~35$ for 10mb(~1mb down.) P.S how's downloading in Japan? movies, music are everyday thing? or there are bandwidth monitors that are out to get illegal downloaders? |
