Since I've moved in with my gf I've acquired a TV, a kotatsu, and another table and a few more dishes, it makes me cringe to think of all the shit I have now... I used to be able to count it all on my fingers!

ALT jobs and Eikaiwa jobs seem to have about the same pay, as an alt your weekends and evenings are more freed up (for privates?) but at an eikaiwa you will likely get to sleep in till 2pm monday to friday and work early on weekends.
I took the eikaiwa route because if you pick wisely you can avoid kids, and if there are some they are in groups of up to around 3 or 4 it would seem, much more manageable lol.

When you get here sign up at a modeling agency or two, keep your eye open for voice-acting gigs that pop up in the usual channels, things like that, as far as full time positions go you're doing alts or english schools, or whatever your former expertise was if you're crazy/lucky depending on point of view.
Haha James you are the first one I hear saying this^^ I reckon this must be an option for some Western guys, who are a little above average looking lol

I also thought about going to some modeling agencys when I go to Japan next year. However, I am a little worried that such a job might break the Working-Holiday-Visum (rule) law Same thing with the Bar keeping jobs in Clubs at night and so on you know.. wich is not allowed for a WHV graduate.

Don't get me wrong, my number one priority is of course to get a teaching job but something like this could be a hell lot of fun and be a great experience on top of that^^ Even though Teaching English is also going to be a great experience for me.

Do you have any information about this James? Is it allowed as a JOB?? I really don't think it is welcome for guys on a WHV. Because I am kinda scared they would boot me out of Japan because of a little gig like this.

I don't think they care alot how you look for voice-over acting.

Why does it have to be on a working holiday? Are you just not planning to move there?

I am not planning on going there forever no. Well, maybe that will change after I went there I am pretty sure it will^^

but I still want to go back and finish University here in Germany after I would do that BIG step in my life.

Thats why the Working-Holiday-Visum is like a god's gift for me It already was when I went to Australia and New Zealand. And I really wouldn't risk a gig like modeling for getting booted out of beautiful Japan.

You'll have a hard time doing modeling or voice work full time, even part time is virtually impossible.
I really did mean "now and then", I get pictures taken of me like once every 2 or 3 months, and I'm not that good looking, balding and a bit of a gut actually.

Voice work is not voice-acting, more like reading role-plays for textbook-cd makers and that kind of stuff, the odd commercial.

These both supplement your day job though.

Working at a club/bar etc is not permitted with WHV and you wont find any immigrations officer that will give a Work visa to you for it. That said tonnes of foreigners moonlight there. It's quite common to do the sensei-bartender thing. There is very little chance of getting booted out for it, never heard of it.
