i 2nd this statement. i dont take anyone seriously unless they start taking out a day planner and asking me which day was good to hang out, unusually that not until 2 to 3 weeks later. I only been as 2 twice do something on the spot and thats rare. anyway like RickOShay said there no point in telling you this you because wont listen, but you will find out when you get there. but for now this particular passage is to whom it may concern.

Anyway getting back on topic, my life has significance improved since my japanese has been getting better. I get more offers to hang out because I can understand, and i can get more involve in conversation now. I started studying when i got here last september.

I don't quite understand what you are trying to say here?!

If your wisdom is to tell people on here, that Japanese people or Koreans for that matter don't want to spend time with foreigners then well what can I say?

Not quite, just that westerners aren't quite good at picking up the tatemae "hey let's hang out!" over the honne.

Well perhaps they do not want too? I've already made several penfriends who all would like to spend time with me while being in Japan.

Same thing I experienced in South-East Asia, OZ and so with Asians from all countries.

So, I can understand them pretty well if they came of to you that way. Why would they be willing to sympathize with a regular foreigner if there all these lovely Japanese around? Something so totally different??

Not saying that this isn't the truth.. but you might think that of myself too, even though it's not the case. I would ignore you most likely and try to get rid of you, spend my time with lovely Japanese girls and boys between breaks instead of talking to your regular bad habits you recognised while being in Japan
It's easy to find a lot about people over a few pints.
I'll just say that you're going to be in for a rude awakening if you think the way the scenarios you run through your head will go as you hope.

I'm not a cynic; I just like to play Devil's Advocate once in a while.

you just told me the 3 typical Western guys in Japan. It can't be that delusional then if you are so annoyed by them and call them "large majority" can it?

Personally, I will do my best to fit right into every one of these categories. Only while staying true to myself.

No offense Bobby, but if that is what you got out of what I wrote you need to work harder on your English skills.

Just understand that your relationships with Japanese might not flow how you expect them to, or how you are used to, and that if you do not plan well you might find yourself quite lonely many days.

Thats the reason why I do plan ahead very well my friend I know that the language barrier will be huge for me and that I will find myself "Lost in Translation" many times, but that again is also very intersting to experience too.

Well then, high five dude. As long as you are on top of it, and can adjust to how Japanese friendships go, and how you will probably be treated contrary to what you probably understand as being "good friends" then you should be fine.

The most intense and wonderful friendships I have had the pleasure to experience were from Koreans and Japanese people.
