How do you plan on applying? Thorugh some sort of local program or flying over to look for a job? Any specific destination you have in mind? Maybe you will score a better chance at the smaller cities? |

don't worry i wasn't discourage, i thank you for being honest and realistic. i'm not to sure, i have all ways loved Japan but its just in the last year that i have made my mind up about pursuing this. I've read/watch videos about programs like JET but i'm not sure lol. Recently i haven't had time, do to studying for SAT and family issues. Soon thou i'll have time to do a more detailed look into applying, programs and other important details i would like to be in a small traditional town but the city would be fine. |

Also, money to save for what? Do you want to know how much money you'll need to visit, to live, to stay short-term . . . ? What job do you want? Where do you want to teach? The money you'll need varies dramatically. A plane ticket can go up/down several hundred pounds/dollars depending on which month you travel and who with, and rent goes up a lot in cities and down in smaller towns. You'll basically need enough for a plane ticket, first month's rent/ultilities, and then spending money and money for food. I worked it out at being around £2.5k (for what I expect my personal circumstances to be), which is about $2k, I think. It really does dramatically differ from person to person though. |

Learning at least basic Japanese is necessary for me, because i want to socialize with Japanese people. whats the point of going, working, living in japan just to be a hermit and live in your old little bubble, no offense to some that did/is doing that. i'll have to figure out the money part for my self , but thanks for this info "need enough for a plane ticket, first month's rent/ultilities, and then spending money and money for food." i'm new to this i haven't figured out the real questions that should ask my self and others who gone this. ive got time to work all this out. |

I don't know what country you're from, but if you're from America/European countries I guess it will be no big deal. However, if you're Chinese or Korean.....then.....be prepared to see a lot of anti-Korean, anti-Chinese rallies in the big cities. - YouTube Quote:
I was in Japan and my Japanese was garbage at that time, and I was able to hang out with a Japanese local, but the only reason that ever happened was because he was a good friend of my aunt. That's the only reason. If that wasn't the case he wouldn't talk to me. |

im going to learn as much as i can here but unless i move there i'll never be fluent. here where i live there's no real place besides school to practice. if learn enough Japanese to survive on,i'll be doing alright. if i go there i'll be pretty much forced to get better. |

Yes you can. There are people who have done it. Just search youtube. There are quite a few who spoke fluent Japanese without ever going to Japan. You don't have to go to Japan to "force" yourself, you can do it here in your own home. I'm just saying...it will save tons of money and tons of problems.
