Want to live and work in JP! - 12-12-2011, 04:04 AM

Do I have any chance?

I´m from a non english speaking country, so my native language is not english, however I´ve lived in USA for one year, I´m graduated in design but currently working as an english teacher for children. I tested from British Council TKT exam and it allowed me to teach english, currently doing a TEFL -TESOL and "Teaching Young Learners Course"

Already lived in Japan for three mounths, five years ago, but always wanted to come back. What do you think, should I try my luck in April?

Hi Karura!

You can always try to apply in Gaijinpot or any other websites first. Some companies post job opportunities there open to foreign nationals like you and they're even willing to sponsor your visa. I went through the same phase as you did and I just kept on applying online. I'm pretty sure you've been trying.

Should you find a job here in Tokyo, you can consider staying at a share house to also enhance your experience here. It's good to have new friends and live in a family atmosphere you know. Share houses information can be read here (just click it to check out) blog too.

Blessings to your job hunt!

Thinking about moving to Japan - 12-27-2011, 05:52 AM

Hello Everyone, I also have a couple of questions. I have been thinking about moving to Japan for a while. I currently live in Taiwan, where I teach English. I would like to ask you where would one look for an job as an English teacher in Japan. Any websites? Magazines? etc...
Since my goal is to learn Japanese, I think staying away from Tokyo is a good choice, since many people in Tokyo speak English, what other cities do you recommend?
I also have a degree in Computer Science, and wouldn't mind trying to get a job as a programmer, so any job websites that you could offer would be great!
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
