I understand what your saying because someday in the future I want to visit and maybe live in Japan, and actually very recently I've been hearing these same things, about racism and foreigners and stuff. But I say you shouldn't be afraid though. I read some online stories from people who visited Japan. Check out these links:

Based on what I read, I dont know what to think, but I'll consider it anyway, especially since Japan is a country I've always dreamt about visiting. You should too. Of course there are some racists there, but you might not meet them, maybe you will, don't think about it, think about what you might like about being there. Racism exists everywhere, maybe not everyday or in every person and place, but it does, so as I previously said, don't worry about being scared and racism and sexism, think of what you might like about it what who knows? What you may benefit from it. You may even like it. So if it's something you really want go for it!

Pay Japan a quick visit. If you like it you can extend it or come back again some other time, if you don't.. well at least you've gotten wiser.
I've been living here for about two years now, in the countryside far away Tokyo and all it's noise. Don't get me wrong, I love Tokyo I just would't like to live there. I do travel about three hours on local trains every day to get to school and work so I'm quite aware of how it feels as an Outside (or Gaijin if you prefer). It's really a love/hate relationship I've never seen anything alike anywere else I've been in the world, not so much racism but more a tremendous curiosity against non-asians. I've got white skin, blue eyes ect., so it isn't really easy for me to blend in a crowd either, but that's okay I've gotten to like the attention it gets me, at least some days anyway.
Well back to your question. If you have any doubt wether to go or not, get a tourist visa and check it out. As far as I know, for most peope it's a small formality that can be done onboard the plane, requireing basically only your passport information and length of your intended stay. I don't think you can find an other asian country which is as easy to navigate around in, even as a tourist without any language skills. If you respect the people here they'll respect you too, at least on the surface level.

I have yet to encounter ANY form of racism from the younger generation (ie, people under 30) and most of them will speak to you just want to try out their English which might be getting a little rusty since high school.

If you want to live there and have a job you need a working visa in which case you need to get a bachelors degree so it will be about 10 years b4 you can really think about moving to Japan.
Bachelors degree??? Yikes. I also want to move to Japan, but I've never heard that before... Maybe it's a good thing I joined this website.

Its nice that you want this at a young age ^^
When you get to high school, At your junior year up can sign up for a scholarship, so that for the summer you are able to go to japan with a host family. You'll be able to go to a school there and they'll be teaching you japanese and all there classes.

You have to ask your Counsellor or who ever in charge of your high school files and classes about this scholarship because its not that open to everyone

GOOD LUCK ^^

P.S

Don't worry about the race or food! They don't only eat fish, thats just idiots of the internet,
They have american supermarket and some products. Also the race don't worry of it!! Some stores say only japanese people allowed because they might have a membership program and they don't want people who are staying in japan only for a month they want long term people.
