If anyone gives you any problems with it, then simply show them your gaijin card and/or official certificate of registered alias (登録通称名). They would have no choice but to accept that as your name. Additionally, if you have a _registered_ hanko/inkan with a kanji name, then you can use your seal instead of signing... Just an FYI...
That is exactly what I was referring to. You cannot use it on anything *official*. For anything through the government, you MUST use the name on your passport.
I have a registered alias. I also have a registered inkan. However, for official documents, I have always had to use the name on my passport. It is actually required by law.

I`ve been married for 8 years now, got married in Japan, bought a house here, etc. Trust me, the places you can use your registered alias are indeed limited.

If anyone is trying to find me… Tamyuun on Instagram is probably the easiest.

First, you _can_ use your alias (printed on your ARC) on _all_ documents except Immigration papers... Never present your passport to anyone except cops and Immigration. Of course, you should always carry your ARC... It's not necessary to carry your passport once you have your ARC (and PR)...

1) Get an international driver's licence at home. Getting one in Japan is expensive.

2) No need to tell immigration you are coming to Japan to "get married" unless you want to sit in an immigration office at the airport for several hours and risk the chance you won't get into the country at all.

...

I'm aware of the cost for a Japanese Driver's license... However, IDL's are being accepted less and less... I've read in the Japan times that Tokyo will start requiring actual Japanese licenses to drive...

Either way, It's my intention to get a real Japanese license and an IDL won't work...

I've read/heard many mixed views on this point. As an American that looks American, I don't see too many issues with telling the truth. I'm not a "suspicious" looking person.

I've been told that immigration officials may give me a hard time on my spousal visa if I don't declare my intention to marry upon entry to Japan.

Nope. Your alias will show up on city level documents, but it will be listed as an alias next to your real name. It`s not the name on your passport, it`s the name on your card - that name, regardless of registered alias listed on the back, is what will be used on anything official. And the official name on the card is the name from your passport. That`s just how things are.

For someone who wanted advice or suggestions, you sound like you already know it all. Feel free to go on knowing whatever you like, without real experience. I`m heading elsewhere. I thought I`d toss out some things you might not have thought of, but your main interest seems to be in making yourself look like you already know it all. Don`t let someone with experience like me get in your way.

I do, in fact, appreciate your advice... However, I've had several other sources that seem to contradict your information... I'm not sure if it is a regional thing or if it's simply a mis-understanding (on either our parts).

You may have noticed that I'm at "version 5.0..." This should suggest that I've had quite some time to research and improve my planning... My primary purpose for posting here: find flaws in my plans & research...

Your purpose seems more to find flaws in the advice of people that have actually done what you are trying to do.

If you are really as obsessive and controlling as your posts make you out to be, you are going to have a hell of a time trying to live in Japan.

You can't be a rock, you must be water.
