Prepare for study abroad in Japan? -

I may post this on wrong category so sorry if I'm wrong.
So currently I'm planning for my study abroad in Japan next year, probably the MEXT program in Fukuoka. Though the application is in the next year but I'm kinda a bit worry about what to prepare beforehand. So I think prepare as soon as possible is necessary. Would like to hear some advices since I have never travelled to Japan before  .Thanks!
