I lived just south of Osaka for 2 years and I visited Tokyo. I much prefer Osaka. It is surrounded by many more historical and natural places, while Tokyo is just more and more city, as far as the eye can see. Plus Osaka people are friendlier and the food is better.

Tokyo- night life is crazy, all my friends are there, alot of famous bboys dance at Shinjuku and Mizo, has great shopping, a lot fun festivals close by, all my major hang out spots are within 5-15 minutes away from each other, randomly get to see celebrities, and i get to show a lot of travelers around which always enjoy.

None: Kyoto Never been to Japan but I have read some awsome books set in Kyoto and by the way it is described and basing my choice on photos, movies and people I know who have lived there, to me it sounds like the place to be.
Between Tokyo and Osaka I'd choose Tokyo (which is what I voted for) just because it is more turistic and I like big citties, but then again I may change my mind after visiting both places in detail. everything is relative and contradictory ~
