Looking to meet Japanese friends in the San Francisco/East Bay, California area. - 09-04-2008, 01:09 AM

Hello all!

I am still fairly new to California. I previously lived in Illinois. I live in the San Francisco/East Bay area and I'd like to make some Japanese friends. I have a lot of interest in Japanese culture/language. I study a Japanese marital art(Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu) and I would like to live and work in Japan someday.

Hope to meet some new people soon!

What are you talking about? You should be able to find more Japanese on any block in many parts of the Bay Area than on the entire Japan Forum!

Yes, I have been to Japan town. I went there like the second day after I moved here. I loved it there. Also I moved here from Illinois and I don't think any Japanese, or any asians for that matter, live in Illinios. So when I went to Japan town I think I thought I died and went to heaven...lol.

To be honest now that I've lived here for a little while now, I can't imagine living somewhere where there are no Asian people.

It's good to meet you!

Very true. Unfortunately in real life, a lot of Japanese seem to be kinda cliqish. Maybe if I knew more Japanese or even how to start a conversation it might be different.
