What's your connection to Japan? Is nanchatte slang or is it regular? Jodan desu ne is regular for sure. They mean the same thing.

Aha, I notice that you are from the windy city. More Polish than Japanese there I think. Do you encounter Polish people? What encouraged you to learn Japanese?

well not really, i guess their r people of polish decent.

But what encougaraged me, I really don't qkno, I wanted to learn. When I started I was SO bad at it. I just kept studying and it got stuck in my head so I went on with it.

I was gonna practice this summer but Japanese 3 slowly made me loose interest in Japanese.

so much overloading work.

Also being turned down left and right doing gap year programs.

So i don't have much motive to learn japanese really.

I just help the newbies.

Aha. I did a class in Japanese based on the Callan method of teaching. I could see it being an effective way of teaching beginners. I was a trainer in that method for a while.

I lived and taught there for 2 years and had 2 Japanese GF's (at different times, hehehe). I am not a typical Brit who is lazy and insists on English. It was a challenge and I like to think that I did quite well with it. I didn't learn that much kanji but that wasn't my goal. Conversation and doing more than just getting by was my target. I remember a lot.

What kind of expressions would you like to know? It's best to start that way, with the basic expressions and greetings.
