As an artist myself those two are great pieces of art work. They are both great in there own way.

The first photo doesn't have the same proportions as the second one, the second one shows the human body better, and the placement of the body parts looks more human, if you know what I mean.

The first one focuses more on detail, a lot of people prefer high levels of detail over a simple very well drawn piece.

So I's say it is up to you, if you want to focus more on detail and backgrounds, go with the first one, if you want a more straight-forward "in your face" photo, go with #2. Personally, I'd go with the second one, I'd add color, and a dark grayish/blue sky with snow fall sparkling about. Maybe even an old tree off in the distance.

Done correctly, they both have the same potential. It all depends on you.
