The last picture is the Kinkakuji (Golden Pavillion) in Kyôto. 3 stages and a phenix on the top... Read the Mishima's novel, you'll have a very precise description.

Maybe it's intended... (in fact I'm not sure ) In the beginning of the Mishima's novel, I believe to remind about a passage when the main character (who later will burn the Kinkakuji by arson) was admirating the building's reflect on the water, he found it more beautiful than the true shape but was kicked out of his vision due to his friend who was annoyed to wait him and so thrown a little rock on the water (which had effect to jam the image)...
