All women drive men crazy, Japanese women are nothing special in that department. But I've had less problems with Asian women than others I've dated.

I have lived in Japan almost 7 years, dated my share of Japanese women, and I mean this with all due respect. This list is retarded, and I fail to see any humor in it and can relate to like 2% of it.

Unfortunately many of these generalizations are painfully true. I live in Japan, and my girlfriend is Japanese. Without exception all of my foreign (non-Japanese) coworkers and friends have Japanese wives or girlfriends, and I get to hear about their relationships ad nauseam. Most of these relationships are good ones, but most suffer from at least one of the above-mentioned symptoms.

Western wives and girlfriends have their own idiosyncrasies.

This list is aimed at people living with Japanese women, not dating. I wouldn't expect anyone to have ALL of these problems. 2% seems reasonable.

Like I said, these are common issues friends and I have had over the years with various Japanese women. And I think for the most part these are issues unique to Japan

Anyway, if you don't have any problems, then good for you.

BTW... I like the guy who made the "American girl problem..." thread in spite of what I posted here. When I was 17 years old in the 90s I would have done the same thing because I wouldn't want to hear bad things about my socialist stagnated love affair known as Japan.

Why these issues are Unique to Japanese girls.... - 02-02-2011, 05:16 PM

Why these issues are unique to Japanese females....

Speaking of generalizing, we shouldn't say these problems can be found in western women too. There are many social and cultural reasons for Japanese women to act in the manner I listed above, and here COULD be why they do so:

Society:

1.Although women are granted equal rights to men, the law is not enforced, so women have a HARDER time moving up the job ladder in Japan.

2. It's perfectly OK to marry out of Money rather than love in Japanese society. Even if you're a broke poor male, you could provide more for the family then the female could even earn with the exact education.

3. Japanese men want childish women, who use small words, and do not challenge his intelligence. Go back to #1 if you still have questions. (But don't think this will apply to her gaijin boyfriend.)

4. After 25 years old, they are considered makeinu (loser dog) or an old cake, if they aren't married yet.

5. And they CANT GET MARRIED because Jobs salaries are low (even for men), all money is going to the elderly, and job conditions are poor (boss turns heat off/air condition to save money, sitting on stools, or standing all day etc) so of course the women quits her jobs frequently, lives with parents (even at 40 years old) and just wants to have fun.

6. No one's protesting this. With all the problems, the women are content with the way life is.

7. Everyone is tatemai (fake happy attitude) so it's hard for Japanese man and women to make friends and open up.

EDUCATION:

1. Unless it is an alternative school, Japanese are more focused on "being Japanese" (which I guess would be : eating healthy food, teamwork, working long hours, writing kanji, and respect) then teach the core subjects. Compare this to Korea and China, and you will see why the education is lacking in Japan.

2. To this day, Japanese only learn a true skill (IT, finance, law, etc) on the job. So if the women doesn't work, or constantly quits due to poor work conditions, she will lack skill and be useless even abroad in your home country.

3. School teaches the students from a young age, that Japans food culture is important and makes it hard for them to live without it.

4. Textbooks still whitewash history.

5. Outside Japan is scary, and people have guns and lie.
---
Thus (MAYBE) you get women who have evolved to act the way I mentioned at the beginning of this thread. This is a very different environment than of an Australian or Canadian women, so I'd say the issues that arise are different.

Buh, aging so slow, nice for you...
We are so lucky with you, knowing the true nature of Japanese society. Thank you for the lecture, it was very interesting, theoretically...

PS: Sorry to announce you, almost any international relationship (and some in the same country even) can bring exactly the same "symptoms" as those enumerated by you. Its the difference in habits/traditions that bring those out, not the fact that a girl/women is Japanese.

True in America as well.

Women are not getting married as much or are waiting longer in Japan now because they would rather make their own money than marry a "broke poor male".

Japanese men want women who can raise the children and maintain the home and expenses. Do you really think Japanese men lament how smart their wives are? Really.

Did you get in a time machine from 1986? A 25 year old women today would not even be familiar with the term "Christmas Cake".

I am not going to go one by one... I think I made my point.

God, this. Isn't the average marriage age for women now like 29 or something? And increasing?

The history book thing is pretty much bunk as well.

Absolutely agree. There seems to be a wider gap than I ever imagined between those who have a preference for a specific look or culture and those who will only consider such specifics when looking at the dating pool.

The latter seem to have rather obsessive and distorted reasons for their limited range of acceptability.
