Lightbulb Reputation Points - 01-27-2007, 06:46 PM

What about that if administrators just allow Reputation Points ony when some one like any thing.
no Dislike Reputation Points ???

and I think Administrators can manege it with these many tool that they have,
and here we can also report that, is the Reputation Points is right or this is like a spam...

But in the end I think spam for Reputation Points is not so easy,
One persone can only send once Reputation Points to any one on a same message, and if Administrators allow members to see the IDs of those members who sent Reputation Points to some one then spam can esily bloke.
And who can send Reputation Points to some one ?
Just that one who have Reputation Points. depending on his/her work...

I hope that what is best for this Forum

Then what's the point of having them? ^_^

People would then announce when they have a certain number of Reputation points, and they would create threads with screencaptures of their user profile to prove it.

It just gets messy in the end.

Reputation Points is a futile idea.

if you want that kind of ranking go be a myspace whore or post fake pics on HotorNot or whatever.

this is a forum for the discuassion and mutual appreciation of japan and japanese culture. its not a poularity contest; anyone who sees it as that needs a life

I'm going to be a little controversial and suggest that the reputation idea is still kind of good because then it would give us all incentive to be more friendly and helpful...any competition would be completely healthy. Besides, I can't see anyone getting too upset over not having a reputation as high as someone else because its just a fun feature after all. It could always be introduced as a trial feature and if it causes any problems, be removed? But then I guess that would be wasted work... Well, whatever happens, I still think its a fun idea.

And thank you Rikku for saying you like my posts. I like yours too!

rep - 01-28-2007, 09:30 PM

No prob! I think there is not difference between rep points and voting the best avatar/sig. It is sort of a competition, but whatever. I would like it to be something friendly and helpful, but if people are that much against it then there is no point in having it.

I totally disagree with the reputation system, I come from a forum where they've been using it for years, it just creates disorder, rep-whores, users creating multiple accounts to give themselves reputation points, it's no good at all, try to think in other way to distinguish fellow members of our forum.

Reputation points would cause many problems. I think it'd be best to leave them out. Also, regarding a thank you type of deal. I think it's okay, so long as the thank yous are not publicly shown. But in the end, people would start saying "Thank you for the thank you" and would cause the same problems as rep points.

Life brings death.
Death brings eyes.
Each time we blink
we open our eyes again,
yet, when we blink our last
people will close their eyes and tear.

However, the death will cause people to eventually open their eyes once again.
Become stronger, strive to live as long as they can.
Life brings death.
Death Brings life.
